Dean's Parent and Family Council

The Dean's Parent and Family Council is a group of engaged parents who support Dean John W. Boyer's priorities through advocacy, volunteerism, and philanthropy.

The College has enormous respect for the parents and families of our students. Parents play an integral role in preparing children for college and in supporting them, financially and emotionally, while they pursue their education. We created the Council to reflect the importance of families in the College's success. We ask these select parents to become investors in the enterprise, to support one of the great universities of the world.

The current co-chairs of the Dean's Parent and Family Council are Donna Keller and Casey Keller, parents of both an alumnus from the class of 2017 and a current student in the class of 2021.

What we ask of members

Members of the Dean's Parent and Family Council support the College in multiple ways. Members make annual gifts of at least $15,000 to either the Dean's Fund for Student Life or the Odyssey Scholarship Program. We also ask that members make a major gift to the area or program of their choice at some point during their time as College parents.

In addition to philanthropy, members can impact the College in other ways: Hosting admitted student receptions, Summer Send Off parties, or other events; securing or facilitating opportunities for UChicago students through the Metcalf Internship Program at their place of business; and general advocacy for the College within the member's sphere of influence

As a member

Members are invited to biannual meetings on campus, which feature presentations from world-renowned faculty, receptions with Dean Boyer and other prominent University faculty and staff, and extensive looks into University programs like Career Advancement, the Odyssey Schoarship Program, and more.

With the help of current members, we are also expanding our schedule of small, private receptions around the country held throughout the year. These receptions often include guest speakers related to the University.

Additionally, each member of the Council has a dedicated liaison to further engagement in all areas of the College.
