Parent Ambassadors are parents or family members who invest in the success of students with annual gifts of $2,500 or more to any area of the College.
The College has enormous respect for parents and families, who play an integral role in preparing children for college and in supporting them, financially and emotionally, while they pursue their education. We created the Parent Ambassadors Circle to recognize their leadership annual gifts, and to give parents and families the opportunity to support the College and engage with other parents through not only philanthropy, but also outreach and volunteering.
The inaugural chair of the Parent Ambassadors Circle is Stewart Brookman, parent of a student in the class of 2020.
What we ask of members
Ambassadors support the College in a number of ways. Philanthropy is vital to the success of the College, so ambassadors make annual gifts of $2,500 or more to the College priority of their choosing. The College's current giving priorities are listed at the bottom of the page.
In addition to philanthropy, ambassadors can make welcome calls to families of incoming students. They can host events like Admitted Student Receptions, summer Send-Off Parties, or other events for community members like fellow parents, students, and alumni.
We ask that ambassadors seek to hire UChicago students through the Metcalf Internship Program, network with College students and alumni, and host or help coordinate Career Advancement Treks if possible.
As a member
Ambassadors are invited to a private reception during Family Weekend hosted by Dean John W. Boyer, AM'69, PhD'75, as well as regional events and programs around the world. They also will receive special communications, such as conference calls or webinars, with University leaders on topics of scholarly or institutional interest.
Additionally, upon making their gift, ambassadors become members in the Chicago Society, including all associated benefits.
How to join
To become an ambassador, make a gift of $2,500 or more to any College giving priority. Doing so will activate your membership, and you will begin to receive invitations and communications related to the Parent Ambassadors Circle.
