Multicultural Students
- What support services exist for multicultural students?
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) supports the academic success of students of color at the University of Chicago and works to build an inclusive campus community. OMSA’s programs focus on enriching student experiences and encouraging crosscultural dialogue on campus. OMSA serves and advocates for all African American, Asian American, Latino, and Native American students who attend the College, graduate divisions, and professional schools. OMSA can be contacted by email at omsa@uchicago.edu or by telephone at 773.834.4672.
The offices of OMSA are housed at 5710 South Woodlawn Avenue, a newly renovated, student-centered building containing study, lounge, and meeting space.
- What is the University’s position on civility and equity?
The University of Chicago is committed to fostering an environment free from racism, sexism, ageism, heterosexism, homophobia, ableism, and xenophobia. The University has a number of policies and statements that reinforce the campus community’s commitment to diversity, civility, and equity. It is the responsibility of every member of the University community to foster an environment of full acceptance, respect, openness and understanding so that we can explore and discuss different views, even those which are unwelcome or offensive.
