Hotels for Spring 2012 Convocation
Due to multiple city-wide conventions being held the weekend of June 7-10, 2012, there will be a limited number of hotel rooms available. We encourage all out-of-town visitors attending the June 2012 convocation to reserve their hotel rooms as early as possible. The University of Chicago negotiated hotel room blocks from June 7 through June 10 with attractive rates for you. Please contact the hotels directly to make reservations.

Greetings from the College Programming Office! Spring Convocation is quickly approaching and we want to ensure that you plan ahead for a memorable and relaxing weekend in Chicago to see your student graduate. Due to multiple city-wide conventions being held the weekend of June 7-10, 2012, there will be a limited number of hotel rooms available, so it is important to plan early.
The 511th University of Chicago Convocation will be held on Saturday, June 9,2012. To commemorate this special time, The College will host a series of events for our graduates and their guests. We hope you will plan to join us. Please use the abbreviated schedule when making your travel arrangements.
Friday, June 8th
3:00 PM Class of 2012 Baccalaureate Ceremony
7:30–11:00 PM Museum of Science and Industry Dessert
Reception
Saturday, June 9th
9:00 AM 511th University-wide Convocation Ceremony
(Lunch to follow)
1:00 PM College Diploma Ceremony
Approx. 3:30 PM Post-Convocation College Reception
*All events are non-ticketed, although students will be asked in May to estimate the number of guests for all events and will be provided with information to request accommodations for guests with special needs.
*Schedule and times subject to change.
*Graduates and their families may be invited to additional ceremonies and receptions at times outside of this schedule.

You can continue to find updated information as it becomes available on two websites, the University’s Convocation website and the College’s Seniors website which has more specific information to College graduates and their families. The Seniors website has a special section for parents answering many of your frequently asked questions. Additionally, the University will send a mailing in March with more detailed information about Convocation weekend. Announcements will also be posted on the Parents website as new information becomes available.
